Artist Bio
Benjamin Yelich is an Art and Design graduate with a Marketing minor at Alfred University. He is originally from Buffalo, New York. He knew from an early age that he wanted to go into the art field. In fact, when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up as a kindergartener, he strayed away from the traditional firefighter and astronaut answer and came to the conclusion that he wanted to be an artist. His mind changed from mid-elementary school through middle school, and he really wanted to become an art teacher. This was until his high school art teacher encouraged him to strive for a higher goal. He learned early skills of graphic design through his curiosity about Microsoft Paint and designing his own sports concepts. It wasn’t much longer until he self-learned Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and refined his skills in high school.
Ben has completed all of his credits and requirements for a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts as of May 2023. However, he plans to graduate from college at Alfred University in December of 2023, because he has elected to take another semester to fulfill all of his NCAA eligibility to play one more season of college football. He was the social media director of his Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Alfred University putting his graphic design skills to use from the fall of 2021 to the spring of 2023. He was also a member of the Alfred Marketing Association in his senior year 2023. Another hobby he enjoys is music. He has played in the Alfred University jazz band as a baritone saxophone when he has time in his busy student-athlete schedule. He was a part of all the bands, choirs, and theater productions his high school had to offer.
Ben’s goal as an artist is to create life within his communities through his work, serving others to create their visions and celebrate what we accomplish as a community. His primary medium is graphic design although during his time at Alfred, he has also expanded into glass blowing, photography, and print.
